This house is called TSN House, located in a separate and crowded suburban area which is near the airport, market, school and offices in the city’s centre. Among the crowded and cramped space, TSN House becomes glamorous thanks to impressive designs with full of natural wind and light while still ensuring a surprisingly immense and comfortable space.
Constructed from the foundation of an old four-level house, “TSN apartment” corporation is designed for a family for both purposes of living (with kitchen, common living space and 2-3 bedrooms) and having income from 4 apartments for rent and yet still ensuring enough functions of parking area, laundry area, common living area, etc. The construction of new high-rise building will affect common space, therefore architects design the exterior of the house with deep colors (dark grey) and original materials (cement ventilation bricks) and return the green space of old house (Bougainvillea glabra).
The use of ventilation bricks instead of closed concrete walls in the facade helps the house take maximum advantage of daylight and natural wind. In addition, the house’s side is also built with door frames and openings between house’s gaps. And inside, architects have arranged a small skylight to make the house airier. Green spaces are also alternately positioned inside the house to help regulate the air bringing a relaxed and comfortable feeling for owners. One of the highlights of TSN House is that stairs, aisle inside, outside and in the middle of the house are arranged very flexibly. Such layout helps to both divide spaces between living space and rented space and also ensure the privacy for each area. The use of De Stijl movement’s bold and basic color effects extends throughout the interior and traffic axes, creating a strong coherence effect between interior spaces. De Stijl is considered a highly abstract design style because it consciously or unconsciously combines different shapes, lines, and colors. Therefore, this style brings many interesting moods because each person will have a different sense of the combination and arrangement. For TSN House, architects have used the main colors of yellow, white, green adorned with colorless hues like black, white and grey as background for main colors. With this idea, the house still remains the freshness despite its abstract De Stijl style. But the most important purpose that architects would like to convey through De Stijl style is to create a tight bond between elements inside the house with family members.
