An Interesting Way To Hide Items In a Japanese Minimalist Design Home
Japanese architecture considers simplicity as the meaning of art form, not only in the layout and use of materials but also in the harmonious combination of space and light. Give up all cumbersome, messy elements to move towards a pure space, create a sense of slowness, contemplation to help people easily balance their emotions. The apartment below designed by Boring City is inspired by Japanese minimalist interior design so it inherits an interesting way to hide items making the home always uncluttered.

The overall apartment has a basic layout including 2 bedrooms, a living room, kitchen + dining area and other functional rooms. Creamy white tones create a feeling of spaciousness and at the same time make the lines in the design more seamless and synchronized with each other. To increase the warmth of the apartment, brown wood furniture is used in a harmony and balance.

Instead of preserving a space to store things neatly, the design team uses the 17sqm living room for many different purposes. Sofa, tea table and TV shelf are arranged into a system that integrates many functions.

The kitchen + dining room is also designed to maximumly fit the 14sqm area, while still ensuring full equipped furniture and necessary utilities. This shows the ingenuity of architects in selection and layout design of space.

Taking inspiration from Japanese minimalist style, architects optimize the living space to fit the apartment’s limited area as well as the original requirements of homeowners. The apartment design can be an ideal suggestion for those who love harmony, simplicity and Japanese design style.
